I am particularly
interested in the peoples of late prehistoric Europe known as Celts, and
have written books on the subject.
Many people today claim direct descent from the Ancient Celts. The idea of a common heritage traceable directly back to the Celtic Iron Age has become deeply established.
But what exactly do we mean by 'Celtic', and who, past and present, can reasonably be called 'Celts'? Part of the problem is that 'Celtic' is a term with many meanings.
And who really were the first known Celts, and what is their relationship with the modern peoples who have taken the name? Who were the Ancient Celts?
